Pre-School Gym Awards

	In order to give our children a goal to strive for and a lasting record of achievement we operate the Persil sponsored, British Gymnastics Pre-School Funfit Reward Scheme. The Funfit Scheme is designed to encourage children to work in close contact with their parents building bonds until, around the age of three, they are ready to work independently. They will also mix with other adults and children learning to share and wait turns. This helps to develop an understanding of socially acceptable behaviour.
	The aims of the Funfit Scheme are:
	To create positive attitudes towards physical activity To encourage children's social, intellectual and emotional development, as well as physical development To promote good posture and locomotive skills
	To provide a programme of basic body management activities To allow children to develop at their own rate, through participation and enjoyment
	The 18m - 3½ yr old scheme has four progressive levels - Toybox, Storyland, Farmyard, Jungle - each with its own story theme and colour.

	The 3½ - 4½ yr old scheme concentrates on action, balance and coordination and has 3 levels - Bronze, Silver & Gold.
